Happy Birthday to me!!

Okay, well technically it isn't my birthday today, because that was this most recent Monday, but this is the first time I'm blogging since then, so deal with it. ;) So my birthday was actually a pretty normal day. However, we did order pizza, so I didn't have to cook. That was nice. My parents also came over a little later in the evening to celebrate with me. They brought this delicious cake along with them too. Okay, and presents. I got 2 favorites! One from Mom and one from Nathaniel. I'd been working out with my sister Melody once a week doing her P90x core workout. (Which was freakin' amazing!) Well, I decided I wanted to get the dvd set, so that I could do that workout program. However, when I looked it up, it cost $120 from the website. There were places you could get it cheaper, but that became something that I would need to save up for. Nathaniel gave it to me for my birthday!! I was way excited. So I went and found a workout regimen using them, so I will be starting that on Monday. SO EXCITED!!! The other favorite (the one from Mom) was a rotary cutter and mat and ruler! Now I have nice ones!!! I don't have this little dinky 6x9 mat that isn't big enough to do much of anything on, and a regular kid ruler that they use for drawing, or in elementary school. (literally, I think the ruler I was using was given to me in 6th grade) I've been watching my Mom's quilt block of the month blog, and wanting to do it with them, but when you don't have good tools it makes it hard. (Not counting the time constraints at all). So I'm planning on cutting out the first quilt block today, and hopefully the first 2 blocks. We'll see when they get sewn though.
The other thing that happened this week was Jessica hitting the 5-month-old mark. Craziness, it doesn't seem like its been that long, but then at the same time, it seems I've had her with me forever. We went to the doctor office, so that she could get her vaccines (I've got her on a modified schedule) and I also had her weighed. I started her on solid food right after her last appointment, so I was curious to see if it made a difference. Oh my goodness! yes! The previous appointment, she had gained 5 ounces in  a month. This time she gained 10! This puts her past the 13 lb mark! She is 13 pounds and 2 ounces! I have to admit though, part of why I'm so excited is diapers. My Costco doesn't carry size 1 diapers, so now that she is past the halfway mark of the crossover weight on size 1 (8-14lbs) and size 2 (12-18lbs) I can put her in size 2 diapers, which means I can start buying them at Costco, which saves me per diaper! I also think I have enough size 2 diapers to last me until I can save up enough to buy that first box (paying the larger chunk out of pocket)
Also, since she hit the 5 month mark, it is time for me to start making baby food. We'll see how that little venture goes.

Pictures

Well, I can't really think of a whole lot to say, but I did get pictures from the last month uploaded and edited today, So I think I will go ahead and upload some of them to here, and give you a little blurb about each.
Okay, here is the proof that she is rolling over. We don't have a video camera, so that won't work, but as you can see, her arm is pinned under her, and so she has just rolled over.
DROOL BOMB!!! This was the cutest picture, I just had to capture it. She isn't a huge fan of being like this in the boppy, but it makes for some really cute pictures
This was the funniest thing. I had set Jessica down to take a nap, and left the room. Well, she kept 'talking' and making noise, for well over 10 minutes, so I went back in to get her, and realized that yeah, she wasn't likely to fall asleep when she had gotten herself out of her blankets, and flipped herself over, and kept kicking the slats. I just started laughing my head off.
Well hi there
I came out of the bathroom to find her munching on her toes, and I just had to take a picture of that one. It was so cute. Nom nom nom.
Way cute girl in a way cute jacket in her carseat
Jessica has decided that she loves sitting in the corners of big-people chairs. Nom nom again
But she doesn't always stay upright. (cutest expression on the face though)
My poor tired baby. She keeps waking up at 3:30 or 4:00, so this is about an hour after that, she just zonked right in the middle of the floor. And she is the one that slipped her arm through that ring.

Saturday

oops, i was supposed to do this yesterday, but in my defense, yesterday was busy, with my friends getting sealed. So this is my Saturday picture worth 1000 words. Okay, actually, its 2 pictures, but only because they go so well together.

4 months!

Wow! Jessica is already 4 months old. Crazy, but at the same time, I think "it's only been 4 months?" She is doing fairly well though. We had her doctor appointment yesterday, and she took the vaccines like a pro. We also got her measurements done. For length, she is 26 and 1/4 inches long, I think they miss-measured her last time, because that's only 1/4 difference in the month, and based on her clothes, she's grown more than that. She is still in the 100th percentile for length, so definitely still really long. Her head is also in the 100th percentile at 44 cm. However, her weight has me a little worried. At 12 pounds 8 ounces, she is only in the 30th percentile. The doctor says that is fine, and I shouldn't worry, and maybe he's right, but with how long she is, that makes her really skinny, and I do worry. But I'm a mom, I worry about a lot of things. Anyway, She is consistently rolling from her back to her front, but while she has rolled once or twice from her front to her back, she hasn't done so in a week and a half, and seems content to just cry until one of us will roll her back over. She'll also get over onto her belly, and then get her knees up under her and try to push along. She'll get about a quarter of an inch if anything, but its really cute.

She has also figured out how to hold her own bottle when we're feeding her, which I find adorable. Most recently, I have started her on "solid" foods. I have started feeding her the rice cereal after she eats (1 or 2 times a day), and she has taken to it like a pro! She loves it, and will even try to grab the spoon and feed herself with it. Obviously I don't allow that one. I have to admit, I'm hoping the solid food helps her have more weight on her bones, and even helps her with her sleep, as she's been struggling the past couple weeks. So yeah, that is where our family is as far as Jessica goes, and as most new moms will tell you, it takes a while to think of anything else. So yeah. Until next time
